I will never ever look down on those bands formed by entertainment companies ever again

Do you know what im talking about?? im talking about the many boybands and girl bands churned out by entertainment companies by the dozen..be it Western or Asian

i used to look down on them and laugh at them....( WHAT KIND OF CRAPPY MUSIC IS THIS?)..coz to me their music sounded more or less alike..and it was just so cliche...videos full of dance moves to make them look cool..so many of them around....but now ive developed a whole new respect for them

recently...i started watching those MTV documentaries that follow the journey of boybands and girlbands being formed...and i was shocked by what i saw....

ALL THE MEMBERS HAVE TO GO THROUGH A GRUELLING PROCESS FULL OF SUFFERING AND STRESS BEFORE DEBUTING

i used to think..those people are so lucky..they just get selected to become a superstar overnight..and they make it big..so much glory..but in reality ..they have to go through so much before succeeding..audition after audition...lesson after lesson...practice after practice...and in these programs they get put down so much by their superiors...about how they're not doing enough and blah blah blah

i watched one Western documentary...yes they suffer too...full of hard knocks before making it big...but however much they are stressed...Caucasians generally don't push so hard...not like Asians...so the people that i have the utmost respect for are the Asian boybands and girlbands

yes..to me most Asian music sounds crappy..but i never knew the hard work behind it

i used to have a problem about the image portrayed by the various Korean girlbands and boybands..girls always act too cute till it's annoying and the boys make themselves look too cool...but after watching these documentaries...i realised they have no say in the matter..they are just manipulated by the heads of the companies that they are under..they have to do whatever they are asked to do or get kicked out

take SNSD for example...i can say that i hate them...coz they always act cute and they have all gone for plastic surgery before to make them look pretty..but according to some articles i read online...they were forced to do it....fact or fiction..i don't know...but it is possible that its true...and if it is...i feel sorry for them..coz if they refuse to do it...they'll just be replaced by someone who is willing...that's how harsh the entertainment industry in Korea is like

during my documentary watching process...i felt so sorry for all the boybands that i used to hate..those super famous boybands who have members that look like girls...they have no choice but to portray that kind of image..i mean..the company even decides what hairstyle they're supposed to have...and even their personalities that they show to the public....okay...that's just too much...if you watch the documentaries..you see that they are actually different ppl in reality

and i watched this band taking voice lessons with a voice coach...omg they can actually all sing so well...it's just the songs they sing that sound crappy...but the voice coach just kept yelling at them all the way..and said they weren't trying hard enough....you could actually see the disappointment in their faces..and they had dance practice for the whole day....and then their boss came in and said that they're not doing enough..come on..they all look exhausted okay

they seem so perfect on the outside...so many fans...so much fame...but i don't think that kind of life is fun...they can't even screw up a little bit...can't even dig their noses or go off key while singing..if not the whole embarassing thing will be put by tons of fans on youtube

now i can imagine why so many Korean stars commit suicide

life as an entertainer is so hard....i almost feel guilty for downloading songs illegally online coz of the hard work put in...

in conclusion...i will never think badly of Asian groups ever again...coz i really admire their determination to make it big.. i can't say the same for solo singers though..but the groups...you guys did such a good job to make it this far...and i don't think i can do the same...

i may never like their music...except for a few exceptions =) ...but i won't put them down anymore
